Ken Hogg will facilitate discussion on key features of the REM as well as opinions from the Pembina Institute and the Alberta Market Surveillance Administrator.
On July 3, 2024 the Minister of Affordability and Utilities directed the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) to develop a technical design for a Restructured Energy Market (REM). On August 27, 2025 AESO introduced the REM which Chief Executive Aaron Engen says the goal is to address challenges of reliability, affordability and invest-ability.
We will be reviewing the recent reports that celebrate the exponential advancement of renewables that are disrupting fossil fuel energy systems.
